Pins and Needles
Danielle Durocher had been a witch for just over 40 years. It wasn’t until she was well into her thirtieth year that she realized she had the gift. Her gift was that of having the ability to foretell the future, as well as the ability to see the events surrounding a person’s past and present. Upon her awakening as she liked to refer to it, Danielle was guided by spirit to attend a small church of spiritualists. She had been a member of this congregation for six years and there was never any incident, until Esre Woods joined.
Esre Woods was a dark witch. She used her gifts for personal gain. She would contract with individuals who paid her to cast spells for them. She cared not for the spiritual price the ignorant folks who used her services paid. It didn’t take long after Esre joined the church before Danielle began to hear the rumors of the kind of craft the Woods woman practiced. Jeremy Williams had visited the woods woman for help because his business was failing. Two weeks later he picked up a huge contract that would see his company busy for the next three years, and one month after that his son lost both legs in a terrible biking accident. The widow Harrison paid the woods woman large sums of cash in the hopes of finding herself another mate. One with whom she could spend the rest of her days with before she died. It wasn” but one month later that she met Ray Colburn. Ray and the Harrison widow were married the following month, and the month after that Mr. Colburn murdered her by poison. He almost got away with it except for the fact that the Harrisons dog was also poisoned and this somehow had led the police to solve the murder. Danielle considered these all to be rumors, but what she saw from the people who told the stories was all truth. Esre always appeared to be cordial and pleasant to her, but as soon as Danielle had started hearing the rumors of her craft, Esre started giving her that knowing look. The one that says, Yes that is who I am, do you challenge me? Danielle couldn’t be bothered. However, she started to keep a close eye on Esre and used her own herb mixture to protect her self from any spell the witch might try to use on her.
After one particularly grueling spiritual service where a demon was exorcised from a young Irish boy Danielle couldn’t wait to get home. When she got there she was compelled for some reason to park her car in the back. She normally just parked on the street but when Danielle was suddenly compelled to do something, she listened to her intuition. As soon as she got out of her car she felt something was wrong. She got a sense of a heavy weighted negative energy was trying to surround her. She shrugged it off and continued on towards the house. When she got to the gate the negative force of energy she felt earlier suddenly hit her hard enough that she stopped dead in her tracks. Danielle had stopped just outside her gate. She looked down and there strewn across the pathway to her gate were hundred of pins and needles. Danielle knew these were thrown there as part of some kind of spell that was being worked on her. She leaned down and grabbing all the pins and needles in one scoop of her hand said loudly, This will not work here. No sooner were the words out of her mouth than the foreboding negative energy vanished. Holding the pins and needles in her hand, careful not to prick herself, Danielle deposited them into the trash bin.
Danielle’s home security system tapes recorded no one placing those pins and needles at her back gate, but this did not mean they were not placed there. Danielle herself knew of several tricks that allowed her to become invisible to video recorders. The technologies that were available in this day and age were still no match for the magic of a true witch. Danielle didn’t really expect to see Esre placing those pins and needles at her gate on her video recordings, however, she could still see her doing it. She knew there was an easy way to find out if Esre was trying to put spells on her and so she mixed herself up a very special potion. Danielle took her potion with her the next time she went to the Church. Once the night’s ceremonies were completed, Danielle brewed up some tea and added her potion to it. When the tea was steeped, she began offering it to the ladies present. When Danielle offered a cup to Esre Woods the woman was barely able to hold back a screech while she choked out, I can’t drink that! After which she turned and ran from the room. Danielle laughed softly and said out loud, No Ma’am. You can not.
The potion Danielle had made was designed to reveal who had planted the pins and needles at her back gate and that is exactly what it did. After that night Esre Woods was never seen at the Church again.
